Brauhaus Schmitz Oktoberfest

It's Oktoberfest at Brauhaus Schmitz!!!

This is most likely not one of my better blogs but it was one of the more enjoyable events I have ever written about.
My companions were:
Joey-O

And Boozer X.

The VIP section.

I oped for the VIP passes which came with some awesome and interesting swag. 6 Drink tickets, Tylenol, a rubber, German rubber ducky, Pretzel glasses, beer can cozy, T-shirt, and some other random odds & ends.

They had some awesome appetizers for the VIP's. Five different cheeses, potato salad, red cabbage and apple salad, bread, and Joey-O's favorite the potato and sauerkraut stuffed strudel.

There was a couple of Toast and Chugs. Boozer X, Joey-O, and I drank out of our awesome Philly Beer Scene Plastic Steins.

Then we head outside for a bit.

Outside on the street people were enjoying food and drinking. It was on huge block party.

And Joey-O was happy.

They only complaint I heard was they didn't except credit cards for the drink tickets.

Brauhaus Schmitz is always a good time even if its not Oktoberfest. So if your ever looking for a great place to go on South Street to eat or drink, this should be on your list.

My Homebrew Shop

So was working in the city and decide to take a side trip to my local Homebrew store. Barry's Homebrew Outlet.

I love this place. Home brews on tap and the best prices on everything you'll ever need to brew beer, wine, and make cheese.

Nick always greats me with a smile. I think he likes me. Well I think he likes the money in wallet. Anyways, Alex is picking up his new Homebrew kit, and for me a false bottom for my kettle and a simple beer kit.

This place has all your needs.
Kits and grains.

Anything and everything you'll
need.

They also have a Homebrew club that brews there.

Yes all that lovely beer. For more info check out their website:

http://www.barryshomebrew.com/

If you stop by tell them that I sent you. Maybe I'll get some freebies. J/k

Two Stones Pub

Two Stones Pub opened a location down the street from me. So my friend Jay and I decided to check it out.

Walking into the place you notice it has a bar on the left side and seating to the right. The only issue I had was the wall down the middle of the pub. It makes the place seem smaller than it is. Also it seemed to amplify the sound in the place.

The bar area.

Seating in the back.

We both enjoyed our alcoholic beverages. Jay enjoy a bomber of Crispin Cider. He said it was nice because of the slight autumn chill in the air.

I enjoyed Tröegs Flying Mouflan. Hoppy and malty at the same time. It was a little more hoppy then I would have liked but still enjoyable. 4 out of 5.

Then we both enjoyed a plate of Mac and Cheese with Chicken, Peas, bacon, and blue cheese crumbles.

Jay enjoyed I both enjoyed it but I thought it was just a little salty. You missed out on the sweetness of the peas. A creamier smokey blue cheese would have made this dish amazing.

What I pointed out so far about this place is me just being a little spoiled by my Philadelphia hang outs. And why shouldn't I be. But, and a big BUT at that, is the price points on their beers. I understand beers I like are a little more then your everyday beers, but a bottle of beer you buy at your local that costs $20 should not be $40 at your pub. $35 I could understand but $40. If you want to move beer out and be successful this is a point you should understand.

Now it sounds like I don't like this place, but it is no true. I really did enjoy my time here and I will go back time and time again. Plus they have Six Point Beers.

My luck

So I had been written 15 blogs going back to "Opening Tap" for "Philly Beer Week". But due to my stupidity in thinking technology isn't flawed just the users, cost me those blogs. I lost a lot of images but here Are a few things I put together from them that I could recover.

They are a collection of photos from "Opening Tap", Philly Beer Week, Great Beer Fest; Blues, Brews,& BBQ; My trip to Canada, Ocean City Maryland Beer Dawg Beer fest, Dogfish Head Brew Pub, and Random Beer stuff. Hope you enjoy them.
